Grants of up to $60,000 to USA educators and staff members at Tribal IHEs for humanities-based activities. Funding is intended to support a wide range of research projects, publications, and scholarly activities related to the study of the humanities. Eligible projects are conducted at Tribal colleges and universities, include pursuing research in primary and secondary materials and producing articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, or other scholarly resources. Projects may be at any stage of development.
This program offers flexibility in project types and award periods. Awards may support faculty research that engages undergraduate students at the affiliated institution or members of the local community. Common to all projects must be research on humanities topics, such as languages or literature, history, philosophy, or religion. Examples of eligible projects include:

The amount of the award is $5,000 per full-time month (or part-time equivalent). The maximum award is $60,000 for the equivalent of twelve full-time months. The minimum award is $10,000, corresponding to the equivalent of two months of full-time work. Thus, an award to support 14 months of half-time work would be $35,000 (equivalent to 7 months of full-time work.)
2 to 12 months, full-time equivalent. Applicants may work between half time and full time on a project, or in combination, starting between January 1, 2023, and September 1, 2024.
