Eligible researchers and practitioners may be operating independently or in affiliation with an academic, governmental agency, multilateral, or nonprofit institution. Funds may be used to convene working groups, to support salaries of postdoctoral fellows or research/technical assistants committed to specific projects, or to pay for contracted services to support the work.

Grants and in-kind support to USA, Canada, and International independent researchers and researchers affiliated with IHEs, agencies, or nonprofit organizations for transdisciplinary research and collaboration to address environmental issues in the Gulf of Mexico. Research groups will meet in Santa Barbara, California and will conduct studies exploring climate change, fisheries, and ecological impact of management actions. In addition to funding to support travel, lodging, and per diem expenses, participating teams will benefit from facilities, training expertise, and cyberinfrastructure and logistical support.

Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations for activities to benefit residents in eligible regions. Eligible organizations align with one of the following areas of interest: basic needs, youth, health, and self-sufficiency. Organizations must be located in and serve residents within Washington County.

Cooperative agreements to USA nonprofit and for-profit organizations, IHEs, and agencies for education research. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for the creation of national research centers focused on different areas related to education. For this year, applications should address either improving gifted education or using generative artificial intelligence to improve instruction in postsecondary education.

Opportunity for USA agricultural producers in 30 states of the Upper Midwest, Lower Midwest, MidAtlantic/Central Appalachia, Northeast, Southeast, and Hawaii regions to participate in an incentive program to incorporate agroforestry practices. Program participants will receive financial and technical assistance to implement their projects.

Grant of up to $2,000 to a USA or territories Pre-K to high school educator to promote gardening among students. Funding is intended to create or expand on a school gardening project in order to encourage a love of gardening, provide gardening experience for students, and engender an interest in nature.

Grants of $20,000 and in-kind support to USA nonprofit organizations for capacity building. In addition to a monetary grant, awardees will also receive consultations, access to services and platforms, and publicity. Applicant organizations should advance a mission and programs dedicated to human rights, girls' and women’s empowerment, or LGBTQ+ causes.

Cooperative Agreement for a USA or Canada state and local government, IHE, nonprofit organization, or tribe in eligible areas to create a water quality monitoring system. The special focus of the monitoring will be toxic pollutants. Awardees will be expected to analyze the concentrations of contaminants in order to advance the understanding of contaminant cycling throughout food webs in the Great Lakes, and screen for emerging chemicals in fish tissue to identify priority chemicals warranting future study. Project must take place in states bordering the Great Lakes.

Cooperative Agreement for a USA or Canada agency, IHE, Tribe, or nonprofit organization to monitor and report on coastal wetlands in eligible areas. This project is part of a surveillance network to monitor water quality, and applicants must be capable of carrying out field sampling of coastal wetlands. This program is intended for the areas surrounding the Great Lakes, including the following: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Ontario (Canada), Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Grants of up to $24,500 to Minnesota for-profit businesses, government agencies, tribes, nonprofit organizations, or education entities performing commercial and delivery services to support the acquisition of cleaner transport vehicles. Funding is intended for any on-road transportation vehicle used to move goods from place to place.

Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations to support charitable community projects in eligible locations. Funding is available for a wide range of projects that benefit residents in the funding source's service area. Priority is given to first-time applicants. Contributions will be distributed primarily in the local area served by Lake Region Electric Cooperative.

Award of $500 to a USA or Canada high school astronomy teacher or educator to recognize exceptional contributions to astronomy education. Candidates for this award demonstrate outstanding teaching and commitment to planetarium- or classroom-based education, including the training of other educators.

Grants of up to $1,000 to USA educational institutions and nonprofit organizations for foreign language educational materials. Applicants must contact the funding source prior to submitting an application. Grant funds may be used for the purchase of teaching materials and cultural items for Japanese-language courses.

Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations and public organizations to enhance the local community in eligible locations. Focus areas include education, arts, economic development, and historic preservation. Eligible projects should benefit the communities included within the geographic boundaries of ISD 88.

Grant of $500 to a USA, Canada, or International teacher, counselor, or educator who instructs high school students to cover the costs associated with attending an educational conference. Applicants must register as an educator prior to applying. Funding may be used to support registration, accommodations, and travel expenses.

Grants of $2,500 to USA, Canada, and International high school teachers and counselors for financial assistance in attending professional development courses. Applicants are required to complete registrations prior to applying. Funding is intended to assist with tuition expenses and related costs associated with university courses taking place in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025.

Grants of $500 to USA and territories community organizations, libraries, and museums serving families and children for storytelling programs. Funding is intended for programs that explore and celebrate Asian/Pacific American and American Indian and Alaska Native communities through oral traditions, books, and art to provide an enriching, interactive experience.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International organizations, filmmakers, and production companies for the creation of Holocaust-related films. Films should have an educational value and broad distribution potential. Funding may be requested for only one of the following three project phases: a) Development, b) Production, or c) Post-Production.

Grants of up to $15,000 to USA, Canada, and International institutions and individuals for research and conservation projects related to wild cat species. Priority will be given to projects with a strong emphasis on conservation. Eligible proposals are those related to small cats species, namely all species of the family Felidae excluding the genera Panthera, Acinonyx, and the puma (Puma concolor).

Grants of $25,000 to USA MD and PhD investigators at accredited academic institutions or nonprofit medical research institutions for short-term, small research projects related to women's medical issues. Funding is intended to support studies that demonstrate promise for enhancing medical care in leading women’s health concerns, including cardiovascular disease, female cancers, the role of hormones in disease and stage-of-life health issues, and diseases and health concerns disproportionately affecting women.
