Grants of up to $2,000 to Minnesota businesses and organizations in eligible locations for programs and activities that help to attract and welcome immigrants, refugees, and newcomers. Funding is intended for events that unite and engage residents with different backgrounds and histories. Welcoming Week events will be held in West Central Initiative's service area: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin Counties, and White Earth Nation.

Grants to USA and territories IHEs, for-profit and nonprofit entities, government agencies, and Tribal Nations for research to address knowledge gaps regarding wind energy. Funding is intended to collect data and advance tools that will improve the performance and cost-effectiveness of large commercial turbines.

Grants to Minnesota LEAs, school districts, schools, nonprofit organizations, IHEs, and professional associations to increase access to higher education for underrepresented communities. Funding is intended for support programs that provide a wide range of services, such as mentorship, counseling, tutoring, career exploration, ESL services, and admission process assistance.

Opportunity for a USA, Canada, or International organization to manage a youth program to promote sports in local communities. The program will offer the cohort of young people funding for projects, connection with a worldwide network of youth, and expert guidance and coaching. The applicant must be able to ensure the program's long-term success, monitor its progress, involve stakeholders, and oversee program administration. Seed funding will be provided by the IOC to the participants to transform their ideas into impactful, sustainable initiatives.

In-kind equipment donations to USA K‐12 schools to improve student access to healthier food. Funding is for food equipment kits that increase awareness of the importance of good nutrition and provide students with healthy food options at school. Consideration will be given to schools in underserved communities, whose students are most at risk for poor nutrition and childhood obesity.

Grants of $15,000 and in-kind support to USA indigenous artists to encourage professional artistic growth. Funding is intended to support artists that are in the early stages of their careers. Eligible disciplines include poetry and fiction writing, dance and choreography, video and film, music, multi-disciplinary arts, performance art, theater and screenplay writing, traditional arts, and 2D + 3D visual arts. Grants are open to members of American Indian tribes, Alaska Native corporations, and individuals of Native Hawaiian ancestry.

Fellowships to USA and territories researchers affiliated with institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations for collaborative scientific research activities. The purpose of the program is to provide career development opportunities for fellows and improve the research capacity of host institutions.

Funding is intended for research studies that will improve the long-term health outcomes of people with traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Fellowship to a USA, Canada, or International MD or PhD for research studies on the topic of ocular cancer. The purpose of funding is to encourage specialization in the fields of uveal melanoma biology, ophthalmology, ocular oncology, or related areas. Eligible studies must be translational or clinical.

Grants of $50,000 to USA, Canada, and International MDs, PhDs, and those with equivalent degrees for research regarding novel treatments for ocular/uveal melanoma. The purpose of the program is to use basic research to identify responsive druggable targets. Eligible uses of funds include salary and benefits, graduate students, or research assistants, supplies, and equipment.

Grants and in-kind support to USA, Canada, and International youth and young adults to conduct environmental sustainability and climate change projects. Eligible projects address issues regarding the following topics: sustainable food systems, climate change mitigation, packaging sustainability, and regenerative agriculture. In addition to funds, participant teams will receive intensive training and individualized mentorship.

Fellowships to USA and territories individuals to conduct research projects related to the humanities. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. The fellowships are intended to support a range of projects and activities that display outstanding analytics and high-level writing skills.

Award of $2,000 to a USA audiologist or speech-language pathologist to recognize outstanding accomplishments. Funding will be awarded for outstanding service in PreK-12 schools. Applicants should demonstrate how their activities have had a positive and significant impact in their field within a school setting.

Award to a USA, Canada, or International individual to recognize outstanding contributions to communication sciences. The purpose of this program is to honor an individual who has enhanced the quality of clinical care in speech-language pathology and/or audiology. The lifetime contribution may have been in clinical service, supervision or administration of clinical service, clinical research, or any other activity that has promoted clinical excellence. The Frank R. Kleffner Lifetime Clinical Career Award recognizes an individual’s outstanding contributions to communication sciences and disorders over a period of at least 20 years.

Scholarships of $1,000 to USA, Canada, and International psychology doctoral students to support travel expenses related to internships. Funding is intended to assist students in relocating from the site of their graduate program to the location of their selected predoctoral internship. Applicants must be graduate students currently enrolled in good standing in a psychology doctoral program that is accredited by the American Psychological Association’s Commission on Accreditation (COA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).

Grants to USA Tribes to plan and implement programs that employ volunteer staff to address critical community needs. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for services that support veterans and their families, teaching Native languages, environmental stewardship, STEM education, and more.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International investigators for research related to hemangiosarcoma in canines. Applicants are required to create an account prior to submitting an application. The purpose of the grant is to develop innovative methods to prevent, detect, and treat this cancer.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for projects to support the well-being of students and youth nationwide. Funding is intended for projects to benefit youth learning with initiatives outside the classroom as well as research projects that address the physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being of students. Priority will be given to organizations and programs focused on high-need communities and those affected by recent wildfires.

Grants of $10,000 to USA qualifying libraries to improve capacity and support operations. Funding is intended to assist libraries that provide services to refugees and/or immigrants. Funds may be used to provide essential services and may support technology, staff salary, materials, equipment, and promotion. Special consideration will be given to requests that benefit underserved or underrepresented groups.

Grants to USA journalists for investigative projects regarding health equity. Priority may be given to early-career reporters. Projects should focus on health topics such as access to care, health outcomes for BIPOC people, systemic racism, and the impacts of these inequities on populations.

Fellowships to USA journalists to research health inequities affecting families across the nation. This opportunity is meant to allow journalists to take time away from their newsrooms and deep-dive into the issues of health inequities, systemic racism, and their impact on families and communities.

Grants of up to $25,000 to USA, Canada, and International qualifying nonprofit, for-profit, and other fact-checking organizations to support work that addresses the harm of misinformation in journalism. Funding is intended to increase organizational capacity by supporting technical, material, and/or operational needs. Funds may be used for website development, staff salaries, professional development, cyber security, and other related purposes.

Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations to fund loans to eligible microbusinesses. Funding is intended to provide loans to Social Equity Applicants intending to open new cannabis businesses. This program aims to support job creation, with an emphasis on communities with a high percentage of Social Equity Applicants.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations, schools, and school districts to develop policies on students' phone use in school. Funding is intended for solutions that will assist teachers, school administrators, and youth from pre-teen through age 19 to navigate the complicated scenarios that face young people today. Grant recipients will embark on a five-month program.

Grants of up to $30,000 to USA nonprofit organizations and educational institutions to establish, expand, or maintain Japanese language education programs. Applicants must contact program staff prior to submitting an application. Funding is intended to cover expenditures related to the salary and benefits of full-time and part-time instructors of the Japanese language.

Grants to USA, Canada, and International organizations and individuals for projects that promote social justice and equality. Applicants are required to complete an eligibility quiz prior to submitting a grant application. The purpose of this program is to address inequality through feature-length documentary films. Grant funds will be distributed in the focus areas of social justice, innovation, and intersectional perspectives.

Grants to USA and Canada researchers at nonprofit institutions and organizations to research cures and treatments for childhood cancers. The purpose of this program is to support late-translational studies. Preference will be given to research projects that will likely result in the initiation of a clinical trial in two to three years from the start of the project, by, for example, completing IND-enabling studies, providing requisite preclinical data for clinical trial development, or perhaps through the validation of biomarkers that will enable selection of the correct patients for entry into new clinical trials.

Grants to Minnesota local agencies, Tribes, watershed districts, and soil and water conservation districts for projects to address the quality of the water supply. Applicants must request access to the online application system a week prior to the deadline. Funding is intended to control water volume and rates to protect infrastructure, improve water quality and related public benefits, and mitigate climate change impacts.

Grants of up to $20,000 to USA, Canada, and International researchers affiliated with nonprofit research institutions to generate data related to SATB2-associated syndrome (SAS). Funding is intended for research addressing SAS as it pertains to sleep, behavior, speech and language, and global developmental delays.

Grants of up to $2,500 to USA young adults who are cancer survivors for assistance with fertility and other family expenses. Funding is intended to assist cancer survivors in building their families through adoption, fertility treatments, or surrogacy. Applicants must have a clear plan of action before applying.

Grants to Minnesota qualifying regional transportation entities in eligible locations to improve transportation and mobility for residents. Funding is intended to support the implementation of mobility coordination and management activities. The purpose of the program is to improve the efficiency of transportation options and increase access to services for residents across Greater Minnesota, defined as the counties outside the seven county Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.

Fellowships to USA, Canada, and International early career researchers at IHEs and research organizations to investigate the impact of AI on scientific research. Funding is intended for projects to help understand the impact that AI has already had and continues to have on the scientific research landscape.

Funding is intended to support history-related projects and programs, as well as activities to preserve cultural and historic resources. Funding is also available for structured grants, which are tailored to specific grant projects. The program’s goals are to preserve and enhance access to Minnesota’s cultural and historical resources and to support statewide public access to history and historic preservation projects.

Opportunity for USA suburban and rural park agencies partnering with community-based organizations to participate in a training program related to sustainability. Selected agencies and organizations will benefit from peer cohort learning, coaching sessions, and personalized support from experts during the 16-week cohort. The purpose of the program is to increase the participating agencies' knowledge, understanding, and implementation of environmental sustainability planning and practices at parks.

Opportunity for USA and territories, Israel, Canada, and International filmmakers to participate in a unique mentorship program. Nonfiction filmmakers will take part in an immersive retreat with mentors, providing filmmakers with an opportunity to screen their projects and receive constructive feedback. Eligible film projects must be in the rough cut stage by the summer of 2025, and filmmakers must be able to attend the retreat in person. Five feature films will be chosen to participate.

Funding is intended for activities to promote awareness, prevent substance use, support the recovery of individuals and communities, and to create better systems to prevent and treat substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Grants to USA nonprofit organizations that work to save homeless dogs and place them in loving homes. Funding is intended for operating expenses, program expenses, and certain capital expenses. The purpose of the grant program is to help improve the quality of care of dogs in shelter or rescue, and to increase adoption rates through programs and new initiatives.

Opportunity for USA journalists to participate in a fellowship related to mental health and the workplace. Successful applicants will attend a two-day training program designed to promote in-depth, nuanced, and accurate journalism addressing mental health concerns, treatments, and advances at work. Eligible applicants have an annual budget between $25,000 and $1,000,000.

Scholarships of up to $4,000 to Minnesota young adults in eligible areas for travel to Israel. Funding is intended to provide opportunities for local residents between the ages of 18 and 30 years to participate in an organized Israel program. The program must be at least two months in length, Masa Israel-recognized (or with an equivalent educational component included), and administered by a non-profit organization. This scholarship program is not needs-based and is available to Jewish young adults who are residents of the Minneapolis metropolitan area.

Grants of up to $50,000 to USA and territories nonprofit cultural, academic, and research institutions, government agencies, and tribes to preserve significant audio and video media resources. Funding is intended to support the digital reformatting of media that is fragile, obsolete, time-based, and of scholarly value. Preservation services must be performed by qualified external service providers.

Grants to USA and territories IHEs, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and agencies for behavioral health programming in rural communities. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for a variety of programs that will improve rural behavioral health care.

Opportunity for USA early-career public health leaders to participate in an accelerator to improve their leadership skills and capacity. This program is meant to prepare emerging leaders to take on managerial and executive roles in the public health workforce, and to have the skills to recruit and train the necessary future workforce.

Award of $5,000 to a USA, Canada, or International individual for contributions in mathematical research. The purpose of the program is to give recognition to authors for outstanding publications in the field. Eligible publications include notable surveys, books, or expository research papers.

Scholarship for USA library school students to attend a conference. The scholarship is intended for students currently attending a qualified information studies degree-granting program and for new professionals. The awardee will also receive a membership to a professional association. Funding will provide for conference registration, transportation, housing, and a stipend.

Grants to Minnesota elementary and secondary schools, institutions of higher education, and organizations to support agricultural education. Funding is intended to promote collaborative activities and projects with a focus on agriculture, food, and natural resource education programs at the primary, secondary, and postsecondary levels. Preference is given to applications that show community partnerships and other funding sources to assist in the completion of the project.

Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations and government agencies in eligible locations for health-related educational programs, equipment, and events. Funding is also intended for equipment or programs that benefit local youth with disabilities. The goal of the grant program is to improve the quality of life in Baxter, Bertha, Henning, Ottertail, Wadena, Sebeka, and Verndale.

Award of $1,000 to a USA media exhibit, written work, or public program for an outstanding project that has enhanced public appreciation of North American West history. The prize is awarded to projects that contribute to a broader public reflection and appreciation of the past or serve as a model of professional public history practice in the history of the North American West.

Grants to USA middle schools for after-school athletics programming serving students in grades 6-8. Funding is intended for the acquisition of sports equipment, safety equipment, and uniforms. The goal of the funding source is to help as many programs and schools as possible.

Grants of up to $5,000 to Minnesota nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and schools in eligible counties to produce community arts activities or sponsor touring artists or activities. Grant funds may be requested to support new or existing arts and cultural programs or to provide education, enrichment, or participatory development opportunities. Five Wings Arts Council provides funding to organizations that serve people in Minnesota’s Region Five: Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison, or Wadena counties.

Awards of $10,000 to USA and Canada youth, ages 8 to 18 years, to recognize outstanding contributions to their communities, the environment, and society. Awards are intended for recipients to continue their public service activity or may be applied to higher education costs.

Grants of up to $900 to Minnesota nonprofit organizations for projects that benefit students in school orchestra programs in eligible locations. Proposals that offer unique educational opportunities to students who may otherwise not have them are strongly encouraged. Eligible projects must serve students in ISD 742 schools.

Fellowships to USA and territories professionals in a range of disciplines to participate in a professional development and enrichment program in the fields of aging and healthcare. The fellowship program offers training in communications, professional networking, and current policy issues, providing fellows with the necessary skills and experience to change health and aging policy. The aim of the program is to ultimately improve the health care of older adults.

Grants to USA educators employed by schools and nonprofit organizations to enhance learning for PreK-12 students. Funding will support the development of extracurricular and in-class programming that improves learning and develops the abilities of children from low-income households.

Grants of up to $50,000 to USA and Canada nonprofit organizations and businesses to start or expand eligible recycling programs. Funding is intended for residential curbside recycling programs, convenience site or drop-off recycling programs, and operations of recycling facilities. This program targets post-consumer foam polystyrene products, which include food service packaging materials and other types of packaging, such as egg cartons, meat trays, and protective packaging.

Awards to USA individuals and organizations to recognize outstanding efforts to improve the lives of blind people. Nominees will be considered for the positive impact they have had on the lives of blind individuals through programs, services, and individual work towards breaking down barriers and changing perceptions of blindness and blind people.

Award of $1,000 to a Minnesota individual to recognize significant contributions to the arts in eligible regions. The award is intended to promote the arts by publicly acknowledging an individual who has made an impact in the field. Eligible award nominees reside in one of the following areas: Big Stone, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Swift, and Yellow Medicine Counties, or the Pezihutazizi/Upper Sioux or Cansayapi/Lower Sioux Communities.

Grants of $1,500 to USA historians, writers, independent researchers, and graduate students for historical research projects related to Iowa or Iowa and the Midwest. Priority consideration will be given to proposals offering new approaches or interpretations of previously explored topics or treating neglected topics.

In-kind grant of sports equipment to a Minnesota nonprofit organization or school-based youth sports team in eligible regions. The grant recipient will receive softball and baseball equipment, including batting helmets, gloves, catcher's gear, bats, and balls appropriate for children aged 9-12. Eligible applicants must be located in Central Minnesota.

Fellowships to USA and Canada PhD students to support workforce development activities. The program provides mentorship and support to graduate students looking to pursue a career in the fields of agriculture and the life sciences. Eligible applicants have defined research projects and committed match sponsors.

Grants of up to $5,000 to Minnesota nonprofit organizations and public entities for services and programs to benefit the community in eligible areas. Focus areas include education, charitable causes, and community needs. Eligible applicants are located within the Greenbush area.

Funding is intended for innovative programs that support youth well-being and development. Funded initiatives may promote areas such as leadership development, outdoor education, diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities. Grants must serve residents in the Stillwater Area, including Bayport, Baytown Township, Grant, Lake Elmo, Marine on St. Croix, May Township, Oak Park Heights, Stillwater, Stillwater Township, and West Lakeland Township.

Grants of up to $5,000 to USA nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, IHEs, and faith-based organizations for activities that respond to community needs. Applicants must complete required registrations prior to applying. Funding is intended to support programs designed to address the unique needs of the communities where the funding source operates.

Grants of up to $3,000 to USA and territories professional dancers for support in facing financial challenges caused by unexpected circumstances. Eligible uses of funding include expenses related to food, housing, medical, transportation, and other essential needs. The program is open to applicants demonstrating an urgent and critical need for emergency support. Expenses can be already paid, can be owed, or can be coming up in the near future.

Grants and in-kind support to USA and Canada nonprofit organizations, agencies, and Tribal Nations for educational programs related to child car safety. The purpose of this program is to decrease the rate of car-related deaths and injuries. In addition to funding, participants will receive training, support, and access to online tools.

Opportunity for USA undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students to gain experience in the field of neuroscience at a hospital in California. Applicants attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities are encouraged to apply, as well as students from other unrepresented and diverse backgrounds. Grants of up to $10,000 to USA young musicians for costs associated with studying classical music. Funding is intended to offset the financial costs of expenses including but not limited to instruments, camp tuition, private lessons, and audition travel. The grant is a need-based award.

Scholarships of $5,000 to USA qualifying researchers associated with nonprofit institutions for research projects related to aging. Proposals will be accepted from advanced graduate students in eligible degree programs in the United States. Qualifying research topics include but are not limited to cardiovascular aging, inflammation, regenerative biology, mechanisms of dementia, and macular degeneration.

Funding is intended to provide women in the mathematical sciences with opportunities for professional and career development and to advance research activities. Women from underrepresented populations are particularly encouraged to apply.

Grants of $10,000 to USA institutions of higher education for youth service initiatives. Funding is intended to increase access for students to service opportunities, to empower youth, and to improve communities. Programs should engage students in giving back to their communities through service commitments.

Grants to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, government entities, for-profits, IHEs, and tribes for research and data analysis related to telehealth. Applicants are advised that the required registrations must be completed prior to applying. Funding is intended for rapid data analyses and short-term issue-specific telehealth research studies and for clinically informed and evidence-based research projects.

Awards to USA public or private schools under the direction of an LEA, Charter Management Organization (CMO), or the Bureau of Indian Education for establishing and implementing evidence-based health practices. Schools may apply in any or all of nine categories, including nutrition, physical education, staff well-being, and increasing family engagement. The school that meets the criteria for all nine topic areas receives a special award. All awardees will receive a promotional digital award package to help schools share their health achievements with their school community.
