The Camargo Foundation
THE CAMARGO FOUNDATION, FOUNDED BY ARTIST AND PHILANTHROPIST JEROME HILL AND LOCATED IN CASSIS, FRANCE, IS A RESIDENTIAL CENTER OFFERING PROGRAMMING IN THE HUMANITIES AND THE ARTS. IT PROVIDES TIME AND SPACE IN A CONTEMPLATIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR ARTISTS, SCHOLARS, SCIENTISTS AND THINKERS TO THINK, CREATE, AND CONNECT. THE PRINCIPAL INSTRUMENT FOR PURSUING THIS MISSION IS THE CAMARGO CORE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH OFFERS RESIDENCIES TO NINE ARTISTS AND NINE SCHOLARS and THINKERS, CHOSEN FROM MORE THAN 1000 APPLICANTS, FOR UP TO 11 WEEKS EACH FALL AND SPRING. THE FOUNDATION WELCOMES APPLICATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS FROM ANY COUNTRY WHOSE AREA OF INVESTIGATION EMBRACES FRENCH AND FRANCOPHONE CULTURES.IN ADDITION TO THIS HISTORICAL PROGRAM, CAMARGO FOUNDATION RUNS VARIOUS OTHER RESIDENCY PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS, SCHOLARS AND THINKERS VIA RESIDENCY PERIODS. THOSE ARE OFTEN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS.
