Grants to USA and Canada nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and community-based organizations for neighborhood beautification projects. Funding is intended to support litter prevention programs, promote recycling efforts, and enhance communities in and around Martin Luther King Jr. Corridors and neighborhoods. The goal of the grant program is to build clean, green, and beautiful places for all to thrive and enjoy. KAB is committed to fostering community diversity, unity, and environmental sustainability.

Projects must address a need identified by residents, community groups, or business owners/employees along the MLK Corridor. While focusing on community improvement the proposed project should address how the project will:

  • Foster a sense of inclusion and neighborhood self-determination
  • Identify how the program will be completed with the required grant period.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant funding is available in 3 categories: $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000, with the possibility of additional funding for supplies purchased at Lowe's. Other funding amounts will be considered based on project needs.

Term of Contract:

Projects must be implemented by March 2023.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are offered to KAB affiliates, nonprofit organizations, and community groups.

Open Community Grants are not limited to KAB Affiliates; however non-KAB applicants are encouraged to partner with a KAB Affiliate in their community. KAB Affiliates must be a member of KAB's President Circle prior to submitting their application.
