Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Opportunity for USA undergraduate and graduate students as well as individuals affiliated with the funding source to advance equity within the country. Funding is intended for projects utilizing technology to address equity in one of the focus areas, including education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. Finalists will receive access to intensive summer entrepreneurship training with accelerator partner VentureWell, seed funding, and living stipends to advance their solutions. This Challenge is for teams of current undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. institutions, and Clinton Global Initiative University alumi.

Verizon believes that leading-edge technologies like 5G, edge computing, real-time IoT (5G and IoT, Edge and IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and Extended Reality can play an important role in driving meaningful and equitable social change; and in order to make critical strides forward, the company must support, cultivate, and diversify the voices of student innovators around these next-generation capabilities.

Verizon is looking for solutions that answer this question: How can leading-edge technology be leveraged to advance equity in one of the five Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) key focus areas?

  • Education
  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Peace and Human Rights
  • Poverty Alleviation
  • Public Health

Innovative technology solutions targeting the U.S context are of interest. Solutions focused on international markets without clear application to the U.S. will not be considered for this Challenge.

Programmatic applications of existing technology will not be considered. While many philanthropic, educational, and sustainable development programs use technology to some extent, solutions of interest to this challenge use technology itself to solve a societal problem.

More information about the key focus areas can be found at https://www.clintonfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2021-2022_verizon_forward_for_good_challenge_prompt.pdf#page=2.
