Grants to USA, Canada, and International organizations to support basic, clinical, and translational science research studies. Applicants must submit a letter of intent prior to submitting a full proposal. Funding is intended to support innovative research projects with the potential of high impact in advancing knowledge about Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

The followings are the main areas of priority with high unmet needs:

  • Improving models of care in patients with NASH and evidence generation of optimal management of NASH in various populations.
  • Innovations in the use of non-invasive tools in the care of patients with NAFLD
  • Understanding biological drivers of heterogeneity in disease pathogenesis and/ or progression and regression in NASH.

Individual projects requesting up to USD $140,000 will be considered.

Term of Contract:

Research is expected to be completed and submitted for presentation/publication within 2-3 years of the study start.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible:
- Only organizations are eligible to receive grants, not individuals or medical practice groups.
- The applicant (PI) must have a medical or postdoctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent), an advanced nursing degree (BSN with a MS/PhD), or a degree in Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, or Social Work.
- Applicant must be affiliated with a host institution.
- Both early-career and experienced investigators are encouraged to apply and consideration will be given to all proposals meeting the selection criteria.

Individuals and medical practice groups are not eligible to apply.

Out of scope research includes:
- Studies involving investigational products
- Studies comparing a competitor drug vs. a Pfizer product
- Highly invasive studies and studies that may have an ethical concern
- Mere replication of existing studies (i.e., lack of innovation)

- Review of LOIs by ERP: January 2022
- Anticipated LOI Notification Date: By end of January 2022
- Full Proposal Deadline: March 8, 2022, 11:59 PM. Only accepted LOIs will be invited to submit full proposals
- Review of Full Proposals by ERP: May 2022
- Anticipated Full Proposal Notification Date: June 2022
