Grant Description
Grants to Minnesota nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, and faith-based institutions in eligible locations for programs that promote social justice and racial equity. Funding is intended for projects and activities that bring about systemic change, improve local economies, and strengthen communities. Funds may be used to support projects or general operating expenses. Grants will fund efforts that advance racial and economic justice in Minneapolis and the inner-ring suburbs of Hennepin County.

Grants will fund efforts by:

  • Advancing structural and systems change through policy advocacy, organizing, and movement building.
  • Investing in economic systems and practices that build wealth and stabilize communities.
  • Advancing narrative strategies focused on racial and economic justice.

The Foundation is interested in funding organizations, efforts, and initiatives that have a proven track record and that can make the case for how their work advances racial and economic justice in the following areas:

  • Promoting civic participation and leadership.
  • Fostering belonging and inclusion.
  • Actualizing access to opportunities that advance upward mobility.
  • Seeing and dismantling barriers that hold inequities in place.

Priority will be given to applications from groups that are led by Black and Indigenous people and people of color, and those engaged in efforts that are grounded in the needs of diverse communities in Minneapolis and the inner-ring suburbs of Hennepin County.

They will also prioritize applications focused on investing in economic systems and practices that build wealth and stabilize communities located in Minneapolis Cultural Districts.
