Grants of up to $12,000 to Minnesota nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, and faith-based institutions to benefit residents in eligible communities. Applicants must submit an LOI prior to submitting a full application. Program areas include arts and culture, outdoor recreation, community enhancement, leadership development, historic preservation, and human services. Eligible organizations must serve the Shoreview community.

The Shoreview Community Foundation seeks to maintain, enhance and enrich the quality of life in Shoreview, Minnesota by connecting the generosity of people with the evolving needs of the community.

The Foundation currently considers special project requests on behalf of:

  • Arts and cultural organizations
  • Recreational places such as parks and trails, as well as places for reflection and relaxation such as open space, wetlands and woodlands
  • Community enhancement and leadership development
  • Human service organizations
  • Historical preservation

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants awarded to date have ranged from $1,000 - $12,000. Larger grants will be considered if a project has the potential to significantly impact Shoreview.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Have an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
- Be part of a governmental body (e.g., schools and municipalities that serve the people of Shoreview)
- Be part of a religious institution, however, the grant project must be focused on community needs (e.g., food program for people in crisis) but may not include religious content

Grants are primarily focused on projects that are located in the city of Shoreview or serve Shoreview residents. Programs located close to the Shoreview area may also qualify, providing that they can demonstrate how Shoreview citizens are significantly served by their organization.

The Foundation does not currently review grants for the following:
- General operating requests
- Endowments or debt reduction
- Individual requests (e.g., sponsorships, travel expenses, crisis situations, scholarships)
- Religious programs
- Political requests
- Sports teams
- Research requests
- Fund-raising events
- Grants to replace government funding
- Health organizations (disease, patient care)
- Housing
- Most group sponsorships

Pre-Application Information:

Submit a Letter of Intent to the Shoreview Community Foundation by February 11, 2022.

The Foundation board will review and respond to all Letters of Intent after the February 11, 2022 deadline. If your project is a candidate for a grant, your organization will be notified and invited to complete a full grant proposal, which is due April 1, 2022. Grant awards will be made by the end of April.

The Foundation will only accept one grant proposal from an organization per calendar year. Organizations are encouraged to seek matching funds for their projects.
